RE: An Awkward Confession - Gabriel Richards - 02-02-2020

Gabriel looked at the man once more, pained at the poor constable's confused expression. "It's... You're good, that's not the point. But I don't want to trouble you with my... emotions... "

Elijah looked more confused. "Please.. explain it to me. I am .. not trained to be able to handle things like you. But I can always listen. I don't think there's anything that you can say that could hurt me.."

Gabriel shook his head. "I really shouldn't burden my parishioners with my issues..." He took a deep breath. "I'm not a perfect man. Sometimes when we hear confessions, we are confronted with our own struggles. When you talked about being alone, well... a priest's life can be very alone."

Gabriel shook his head. "I chose this life for myself. Your situation... is a little more complicated." He looked at Elijah. What he wouldn't give to just tell the man the truth.

Eiljah shook his head. "Yes but you were so young, and perhaps you had family or friends help push you towards this direction. Sometimes we don't truly know what we want until we are older. And your job is especially hard to just change your mind about. I am so very sorry I didn't consider your feelings."

Gabriel shook his head. "It's not that I don't want to be a priest." Every doubt was safely stored away, usually, and he preferred to keep it like that. "I'm sorry, I really shouldn't trouble you with this."

Elijah shook his head. "No no, please tell me. And I didn't mean to make it sound like that.. Just that.. I guess you didn't expect to be so lonely while you see so many people every day."

RE: An Awkward Confession - Gabriel Richards - 02-02-2020

Gabriel nodded. "But I guess that the same goes for you..." He watched him. Did Elijah know how perfect he was?

Elijah smiled sadly. "Yeah but I have the freedom to find someone if I wanted. I'm just .. unable to be happy with a woman. If I married one, it would be a life of disappointment and misery."
