He would never have thought he'd invite a catholic priest to his home, but he didn't want the employment to potentially sever the tie between the young man and his benefactor, not when said young man had so few prospects."

Malachi smiled as the invitation was extended and, while his expression was not quite warm, it was polite.
“Not a problem. Thank you, I might have to take you up on that if things go well,” he said. “Was that all you needed, sir?”

Tobias nodded. "Yes, thank you," he said. "Have a good day." He gave a final nod as a greeting and then turned to leave, glad to quit the awkward space that made him feel like he was trespassing. At least the priest had seemed to have the heart in the right place, despite their differences in doctrine. The boy hadn't lied.
